Tech I

HapiSeeds’ Tech I intellectual property is based on the discovery of a key gene responsible for controlling plant cell division, thus regulating development of all terrestrial plants.

By modulating this gene with a simple transgenic or non-transgenic edition, it is possible to increase plant’s growth rate, biomass, grain production, resilience to abiotic stress and carbon sequestration, in an unprecedented manner.

Tech II

HapiSeeds TECH II offers a service to assist plant breeders in creating new elite varieties, through the use of RNA biomarkers, precisely accelerating the plant breeding process.  The tests can select new elite varieties that are healthier, more productive and tolerant to environmental variations. In parallel, it allows farmers to identify the varieties most suitable for their growing conditions and identify the best bioinoculants for each variety.

Technology

Innovative Genetic Solutions for Plant Growth

HapiSeeds’ platform leverages advanced knowledge and control over specific genes related to plant metabolism and growth. The platform consists of a master technology of gene bioprospection using our own robust database. It provides novel genes for direct genome edition, or to be used as RNA biomarkers. Our integrated technologies act precisely, accelerating genetic improvement and providing a real increase in plant productivity.

They can be applied to a wide range of plant species across various ecosystems, promoting a low-carbon and water-efficient economy. Additionally, they can enhance elite varieties developed by AgTech companies.

Successful Trials and Results

Proven Efficacy in Greenhouse and Field Experiments

Extensive trials in Brazil, using maize seeds edited by VIB in Belgium with our Gene Technology, demonstrated remarkable results. These trials showed a 20% increase in seed weight, 40% improvement in CO2 assimilation, and a 16% rise in leaf biomass.

Additional Genes and Benefits

Broadening the Horizon of Genetic Enhancements

HapiSeeds is currently testing additional genes, yielding promising results. These developments include new products with enhanced CO2 capture, improved interaction with bioinoculants and microorganisms, increased nitrogen fixation, reduced dependence on fertilizers, and greater resistance to abiotic stresses such as drought and heat. Additionally, these products show greater resilience to biotic stresses, including viruses, pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and nematodes.
