Higher yield for any crop

Precision Genetic Technologies for Improving Crop Yield

What We Do

HapiSeeds is a pioneering biotechnology company focused on maximizing plant productivity and resilience.

Utilising our advanced knowledge of specific gene networks in terrestrial plants, we enhance growth, increase productivity, and improve resilience to environmental challenges.

Our innovations allow us to enhance plant growth, increase biomass, boost grain production, and improve resilience to environmental stresses, all without introducing new proteins into the plant cells. By harnessing the power of key genes responsible for plant development, we are driving unprecedented advancements in agricultural productivity and sustainability.

What We Stand For

Innovators, Scientists.

Our work seeks to develop biotechnological tools that lead to an increase in plant biomass and productivity, as well as better adaptation to environmental changes.

We aim to provide farmers with the resources to sustainably meet global agricultural demand.

Our Technology Platform

HapiGene

HapiGene validates the functions of genes identified by HapiFinder in model plants for commercial crop breeding.

These technologies, licensed to agricultural companies, accelerate the development of elite varieties as well as increase grain yield and resilience to environmental stresses, with potential applications in terrestrial plants.

This disruptive innovation creates healthier, more productive plants that are tolerant to environmental variations, resulting in crops that "do more with less.

HapiMarker

HapiMarker is an innovative genetic technology that leverages RNA biomarkers to identify superior genotypes in existing cultivars and create improved plant varieties. These biomarkers capture DNA information, allowing the selection of plants with higher productivity, resilience, and enhanced environmental stress response.

This technology accelerates genetic improvement by helping breeders develop elite varieties and enabling farmers to choose the best varieties and bioinoculants for their growing conditions, ensuring more productive crops.

Differentiating elements of the technology

Real increase in productivity per plant.

Plants grow healthier, faster, larger and better adapted to the environment.

Faster Growth

Increase in biomass, number of flowers and fruits, and seed production

Less use of chemical fertilizers

Tolerance to abiotic stress

GREATER PRODUCTIVTY

Real increase in productivity per plant.

Plants grow healthier, faster, larger and better adapted to the environment.

Research & Technology

Leveraging genomic precision techniques to deliver yield increase to crops

HapiFinder

Technology

Innovative Genetic Solutions for Plant Growth

HapiFinder technology specializes in gene bioprospecting, leveraging advanced bioinformatics to pinpoint genes that enhance productivity, resilience, and nutritional quality in agricultural crops. Our proprietary platform systematically analyzes extensive genomic databases to identify high-impact genes suitable for genetic improvement and biotechnology initiatives, providing innovative and sustainable solutions for the agricultural industry.

2

HapiGenes

HapiGenes focuses on testing key genes in model plants to enhance productivity (biomass and food) in elite varieties. Our pioneering gene editing product is unique in its ability to significantly boost productivity per plant without yield penalties or introducing new proteins into the plant's cells. These key genes are designed to be modified by existing gene editing technologies, contributing to increased resilience against various stresses without performance penalties.

Successful Trials and Results

HapiSeeds offers cutting-edge technology for silencing GENE1, resulting in:

  • Increased Biomas: Enhanced growth with more flowers, fruits and seeds.

  • Water Efficiency: Reduced irrigation needs.

  • CO2 Sequestration: Significant carbon capture even under adverse conditions, with a 40% increase in maize trials.

  • Resilience and Resistance: Greater tolerance to abiotic stresses and improved pest resistance.

  • Sustainable Practices: Better association with bioinoculants leads to reduced use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

Extensive collaboration with the Plant Systems Biology Department – VIB and Embrapa has demonstrated a until  16% increase in maize grain weight and a 16% increase in dry leaf biomass.

HapiMarkers

The HapiMarkers technology provides RNA biomarkers for identifying superior genotypes in existing cultivars and for creating new improved varieties. These biomarkers reflect information from the plants' DNA, allowing the selection of genotypes with higher productivity, resilience, and better responses to environmental stresses. Our in situ analysis allows the selection of the most productive crops and also the best combinations between plants and bioinoculants, adapted to different regions, soils and climates.

Successful Trials and Results

Broadening the Horizon of Genetic Enhancements

HapiMarkers technology is currently available for sugarcane and corn crops, with our R&D team focused on expanding to other crops. Our solutions maximize crop potential in a variety of growing conditions.

  • Increased Yield: We identify genotypes that show higher yields.

  • Resistance to Abiotic Stresses: We successfully select genotypes for tolerance to abiotic stresses.
